Your need-to-know guide for returning to group fitness in Toukley post-lockdown.

If you have ever watched a marathon, you’ve probably noticed that incredible burst of energy a runner seems to muster right as the finish line is in sight. With ‘Freedom Day’ right around the corner – and with it, the return of group fitness classes – we can feel a similar sense of excitement pushing at our heels.

But as keen as we are to be back in action, the safety of our community is always our top priority.

We are staying committed to COVID- safe best practice and ask that you help our small business follow government health orders as we reopen.

What will post-lockdown gym classes look like?

From Monday, 11 October 2021, fully vaccinated individuals will be permitted to enter the gym in line with government regulations.

If you are looking forward to hitting the weights with your mates again, you’ll need to send a copy of your vaccination certificate to lucas@hiveactiv.com.

It is super important for us to have these on file prior to you entering the gym. We face some pretty hefty fines if this process isn’t followed correctly.

If you have a smartphone, we would also recommend downloading your vaccination certificate to your e-wallet.

It only takes a few minutes to set up, and then you’ll be able to whip it out instantly if anyone needs to check it. You can find a simple guide on how to do that here.

Once you have sent your certificate through, you can start booking!

We want everyone who enters our gym to feel safe, which is why our group fitness classes will initially be operating under limited capacity. We have released an extended timetable to accommodate this change (see here). However, booking your classes prior to attending will be more important than ever.

We also ask that if you book a class but later realise you cannot attend, please cancel as soon as possible. This will allow one of your fellow community members to take that spot.

When I am in the gym, how do I help keep my community safe?

We’ve been through this once before, so most of us know the drill by now.

If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, please do not come to the gym. Even if you are feeling slightly sick, give your workout a skip. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

When you are entering, you’ll need to check-in via the QR code displayed at the door. It is also important to be checking out when you leave. That way, we have an accurate record of the time each person is in the gym.

If you are yet to join the smartphone revolution or happen to forget it – no worries. We’ll have a manual sign-in book available as well.

And of course, you’ll need to bring your trusty mask.

We will also supply hand sanitiser and ask that you use this every time you enter.

Social distancing rules will also be back. To begin with, we are limiting our classes to 12 people. This will keep us well within the one person per 4sqm regulations, but it won’t hurt to be extra mindful of your fellow gym-goers when you are busting out those starjumps and burpees.

And don’t worry, our trainers will be following the same protocols and all equipment will be cleaned thoroughly before and after each class. That way, you don’t have to stress about the hygiene of the next dumbbell you are picking up.

What is available if I’m not fully vaccinated?

At this stage, the Australian Government has specified 1 December 2021 as the date that those who are not fully vaccinated can return to group fitness sessions.

But never fear – we are still offering one-on-one training sessions out at the beautiful Norah Head. New clients, old clients, vaccinated or not – you’ll get stunning views and a personalised training plan. What’s not to love?

We also run an online exercise class that streams live at 6 am every Monday to Friday. If you are not a morning bird, you can watch it back at a time that suits you.

We can’t wait to see you.

We are so keen to get back to routine and what we do best – helping people transform their lives for the better through the power of health and fitness.

In our excitement, we have spent the last few months cooking up some new developments to bring Hive Activ back better than ever. We can’t wait to share it all with you soon.

But more than anything, we are just looking forward to being surrounded by our beautiful community every day.

We have missed each of you so much and can’t wait to welcome you back with open arms…from a COVID-safe distance, of course!

We will see you real soon.
